Arrival in Temuco (Chile)

You will arrive in Temuco via Santiago by plane on day one. When all participants arrived your tour guide will arrange the briefing of the upcoming tour. And he will arrange the necessary paperwork and the "Security Deposit" for the motorcycle with you.
DAY TWO:

Temuco - Junin de los Andes (Argentina)

The first riding day. We leave Chile behind us for now, on our way to a very small town in Argentina. For the first time during this tour we'll have to cross te border AND the mighty Andes mountain range.
DAY THREE:

Junin de los Andes - Bariloche

Finally we are getting closer and closer to the real Patagonia. Heading south on 'Ruta 40', this is the famous "Route 66" of Argentina. Spectacular riding and views will be your part. We end up in Bariloche, the 'un-official' capital of Patagonia.
DAY FOUR:

Bariloche - Esquel

We are still following the Ruta 40 south bound. Lunch will be in El Bolson. This town is famous for UFO sightings. After lunch we leave the pavement behind and on gravel we go to the "Los Alerces National Park". After visiting this beautiful park, we ride to Esquel, where we'll stay the night.
DAY FIVE:

Esquel - Puyuhuapi (Chile)

Heading for the border again. Just after the town of Trevelin, the road changes into gravel. In Chile the unpaved road continues to Futaleufu, and even further to the 'Carretera Austral', the famous southern Chilean highway. In the little town of La Junta we will find our hotel.
DAY SIX:

Puyuhuapi - Coyhaique

Further south on the "Carretera Austral", again a fantastic ride, with spectacular views on the Andes. It seems that it is getting better every day ! Through 2 national parks we ride to Coyhaique, a quiet town in the heart of Chilean Patagonia.
DAYS SEVEN AND EIGHT:

Coyhaique - Puerto Guadal

A short riding day today. Along the lake shore we ride east bound back to Argentina. We stay the night in the border town of Los Antiguos.
DAY TEN AND ELEVEN:

Gobernador Gregores - El Calafate

We are back in Argentina. In the town of Perito Moreno we are back on the Ruta 40 again, south bound. A connection day crossing the Argentinian 'Pampa'. A totally deserted region in this country. Maybe you will see some wildlife, like the nandoe or guanaco. We stop for the night in the touristless town of Gobernador Gregores.
DAY TWELVE:

El Calafate - Cerro Sombrero (Chile)

Back to the 'never-ending' Ruta 40 south bound. On our way to quite a touristic town: El Calafate. If the visibility allows, we can see Mount Fitz Roy from the shore of Lago Viedma. Further south we will end up in the touristic town on the shore of Lago Argentino. Here we stay 2 nights.
DAY THIRTEEN AND FOURTEEN:

Cerro Sombrero - Ushuaia (Argentina)

Now you know why El Calafate is touristic. It is because of the nearby Perito Moreno glacier, part of the biggest icefield in the world (besides the North- and South-pole). We go on our motorcycles to the Glaciares National Park and see the glacier for ourselves. You can really hear (!) the glacier moving. This is absolutely one of the most impressive places on earth.

    - Distance: 325 Km. / 195 Mi. (Motorcycle) - Altitude: to 3.700 meters / 12,140 feet Heading south over the Altiplano to the East shore of the Uyuni salt flats. Here we will enter the biggest salt flats in the world: Salar de Uyuni. You won't believe what you are experiencing: White, white and white salt, flat as a pancake and as good as asphalt. The lunch stop is at "Inca Huasi" (House of the Inca), also known as "Cactus Island" or "Fish Island". Another 70 kilometers on salt to "Playa Blanca" the real (!) salt hotel. If the time allows us, we conclude the day with a visit to the train cemetery close to Uyuni. Late in the afternoon we arrive at the hotel, where they serve the best pizza on the Southern Hemisphere at the "Minute Man" restaurant in our hotel.
DAY FOURTEEN:

Uyuni - Potosí

    - Distance: 220 Km. / 132 Mi. (Motorcycle) - Altitude: to 4.100 meters / 13,450 feet This brand new route is made for motorcycling. It is all paved and in perfect shape. Crossing the Andes on this road is fantastic. In the afternoon an optional visit to the medieval silver mine of Cerro Rico is on the program.
DAY FIFTEEN:

Potosí - Sucre

    - Distance: 160 Km. / 96 Mi. (Motorcycle) - Altitude: to 2.810 meters / 9,220 feet Again a relative short ride to the REAL capital of Bolivia: Sucre. Did you know, La Paz is just (?) the seat of government? We stay in a very nice hotel and the afternoon is at leisure in this nice city.
DAY SIXTEEN:

Sucre - La Higuera

    - Distance: 281 Km. / 167 Mi. (Motorcycle) - Altitude: to 1.950 meters / 6,400 feet We saved the real adventure for last. About 150 Kilometers (90 Miles) out of Sucre, we hit a spectacular unpaved road. We end up in the town where Ché Guevara was arrested and killed by the Bolivian Army, with the help of the CIA. This is a real historical place. We stay in a basic accommodation.
DAY SEVENTEEN:

La Higuera - Vallegrande

    - Distance: 60 Km. / 36 Mi. (Motorcycle) - Altitude: 2.030 meters / 6,660 feet Today we can sleep in a little. A short unpaved riding day to Vallegrande. This was the town to where Ché's dead body was moved and shown to the world press. After lunch we'll have the opportunity to do a walking Ché tour. Very interesting !
DAY EIGHTEEN:

Vallegrande - Cochabamba

    - Distance: 360 Km. / 216 Mi. (Motorcycle) - Altitude: to 2.600 meters / 8,500 feet Already the last riding day during this tour. In the evening we'll have our farewell dinner in one of the good restaurants in Cochabamba.
DAY NINETEEN:

Cochabamba - La Paz

It's already the last day of driving during this tour. We are heading towards the end in La Paz. The first part of the day is "climbing" the eastern slopes of the Andes. The last 180 kilometers will be on the road to La Paz. In La Paz we deliver the motorcycles and enjoy our farewell dinner.
